Our Heritage
Kwenda Inc is founded upon a heritage of enterprise, stewardship and African commerce. Its Founder and Executive Chairman, Kundai Thomas Kwenda, is a descendant of Chief Kwenda of Wedza, Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe, and of the renowned Kwenda Family, whose prominence in the region was shaped in part by generations of trade in rare beads, textiles, fabrics and other valued commodities.
The historical significance of the Kwenda name is further reflected in the establishment of the Kwenda Mission School in 1892, when the Methodist Church named the mission in honour of Chief Kwenda.
This enduring legacy of leadership, enterprise, commerce and community forms an important part of the philosophy behind Kwenda Inc today. Building upon its ancestral heritage, the Group seeks to preserve the legacy of the past while creating a modern institution with interests spanning natural resources, investment, commerce, creative industries and social development.
